Mummy arrived home this afternoon from the European Geosciences Union conference in Vienna, Austria.
She picked up the kids from nursery, who were trying hard not to show how excited they were to see her.
Tosha was fast asleep on the nursery’s chair and then sauntered over to her; Tolii finished what he was doing and then [...]

Child Architects
March 31st, 2008 · 2 Comments
Both Tolii and Tosha have recently taken to architecture or at least, civil engineering. Over the past few days, we’ve seen bridges, churches and towers constructed (and destructed).
Tolii has gone as far as creating castles with intricate designs for doors, windows and towers!
Tosha meanwhile has tried to create a tower comparable to Taipei’s 101!

Stinky Poo, Stinky Poo
March 17th, 2008 · No Comments
Tosha loves to sing. Here’s his latest song, heard while he was sitting on the toilet:
Stinky Poo, Stinky Poo, where are you?
Here I am, here I am; How do you do?

Daddy’s Large Penis
March 17th, 2008 · No Comments
Says Tolii while sitting in the bath watching daddy take a leak in the toilet:
“Daddy, why is your penis so large?”
Unfortunately, mummy was in the kids’ bedroom dealing with fussy Tosha and didn’t hear this.
It lead to a good discussion of how all parts of us grow bigger as we grow up; except for our [...]

Liar, Liar
November 26th, 2007 · No Comments
Yesterday, Tolii was given one sweetie, and Tosha two while in the bath. Tolii called mummy and said, “Mummy, I’ve lost my sweetie”.
“Where did you loose it Tolii?”
“Ummm, Tosha ate it.” (Tosha was chewing his own, differently coloured, sweetie at this time).
“No, Tolii, Tosha is eating his own sweetie. What has happened to [...]

Mother Nature
November 20th, 2007 · No Comments
Tolii asked Daddy, “What’s Mother Nature’s middle name?”
I don’t know - do you?
Is “Mother” her first name? (I wish I’d thought to ask Tolii this one in response!)

Complaints
November 16th, 2007 · No Comments
Tolii and Tosha are very independent folk. They sure do complain if we don’t do something to their satisfaction (or don’t let them do it themselves). Here’s a couple of complaints from last night with mummy…
When I was drying Tolii’s hair after the bath, he said “Mummy, my head is turning into a [...]

My ears were turned off
November 7th, 2007 · No Comments
In the bath tonight, the boys were quite “active”. Tolii had some funny come-backs, too…
Daddy: Will you sing the new song you learned, Away In A Manger?
Tolii: No, I have no breath left.
Daddy: Why did you squirt Tosha in the ear when mummy told you not to?
Tolii: Because my ears are turned off!
Daddy: They [...]

SOME!
October 24th, 2007 · No Comments
I mentioned in an earlier post that Tosha has the habit of saying “SOME” (Russian for “by myself”). I thought I’d elaborate using this morning’s incident as a perfect example.
Tosha is fiercely independent. He is very proud of the fact he can do so many things by himself. He does have an [...]

Tolii’s View on Marriage and Death
May 6th, 2007 · No Comments
Tolii: What’s that?
Daddy: My wedding ring
Tolii: Why are you dead?
Daddy: I’m not dead.
Tolii: What makes you die?
Daddy: When you get old.
Tolii: And when you get married.

Lessons
May 5th, 2007 · No Comments
After swim lessons, Tolii and daddy stopped at the park nearby. After a good play and pee in the bushes (does he drink the entire contents of the pool?), we got back into the car to meet granny, who was shopping at Homebase.
Tolii asked how you drive a car.
“You take lessons from a professional [...]

88
May 5th, 2007 · No Comments
“Maybe 88″ is now Tolii’s catch-phrase. Wasn’t it just a week or two ago that it was “21″?
“Daddy, how fast are you going?”
“70mph”
“Maybe 88″
And so it goes…

Tolii’s Talk: Princesses
April 29th, 2007 · No Comments
“I don’t like pink…pink is for princesses”, says Tolii as he sat on a friend’s pink bicycle.
“Princesses are yuck…we need to send them to the bin.”
I guess dressing up yesterday really got to him (see BBQ entry below).

“Daddy, how fast are you driving?”, asks Tolii.
“The speed limit, 40mph”, says Daddy.
“Maybe 21″, counters Tolii.
“Daddy, how fast did I go down the slide?”, asks Tolii.
“Maybe 200 metres per second”, jokes daddy.
“Maybe 21″, counters Tolii.
“Daddy, how tall am I?”, asks Tolii.
“Not tall enough to go on the water slides at the Aquadrome.”, answers daddy, knowing [...]

Nine socks on the ceiling
February 8th, 2007 · No Comments
The other morning, when the kids join us in our bed to ensure we don’t accidentally fall back asleep (or more importantly, don’t forget to get them breakfast), Tolii told us:
“Mommy, we don’t want nine socks hanging from our ceiling!”
What does that boy dream of at night?
