At the moment, the only ‘sizzle’ most of us will be hearing coming from this ‘barbeque summer’ will be the sound of raindrops evaporating as they hit the hot surface of the grill plate, there seems little if anything at least in the short term to indicate that the weather will settle to any major degree. If there’s one crumb of comfort to be drawn from all this unsettled weather, at least the rains mostly warm.”

Luckily, Grandpa had brought over some Canadian ice scrapers in one of his visits.  They were put to good use this morning by both Katya and I.  And boy! what a lot of scrapping had to be done.

Sunny September? The light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off!

Even though rainy Augusts are supposedly the norm for Britain, there is a hope for “Indian Summer” Septembers.  Now even that has been taken away from us.

It is best summed up by the humourous forecaster over at WeatherOnline.co.uk:

It is one of those times when it appears that the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel has been turned off. But have faith, it can’t last forever (can it)?

Kayta’s British mates at work insist this is typical British weather, and that the hot, sunny summers of 1995-2005 were atypical.

The MetOffice does seem to concur with them though…

MetOffice says..."normal service will be resumed for the weekend with rain or showers at times"
