For three years running now, we make an outing to Sir Harold Hillier Gardens near Romsey to see their spectacular gardens and the annual show of art in those gardens.
We liked this years’ art. One of the most interesting sculptures was one made from sections of white plastic tubes, which was wrapped around and up a tree; the base was made into a surprisingly comfy seat!
New this year was a playfort complete with slide and climbing wall. Nearby trees were incorporated into it and were fun to climb, in order to get into the fort.
Grangela took the kids for a spin in the same electric buggy as last year (by chance!). I don’t think she had a single chance to steer it.
There was also a prof making some nifty noise makers. You paint this propeller shaped piece of wood, let it dry, attach a string and then whiz it in a circle. It makes a funky buzzing noise as it whirls. Cool.
As if that wasn’t enough, there was a nice hide-away place where the staff encouraged visitors to make their own art out of the various slices of logs there. Our boys, with a bit of encouragement from Katya, made some nifty nature art of their own.
Be sure to see the many photos in our gallery of the art we saw.
