Katya and I were given a joint Whitchurch Community Award this evening by the mayor and his wife. Other receipients this year were Keith Watts, Christine Brown, Nikki Farley, Maureen Lang and Rob Dunlop. We were both moved and delighted to receive the award. Below is the text of what was read out by the mayor’s wife upon the presentation of our award (I’ve added links to the relevant websites detailing the items mentioned):
Andrew and Katya Reeves-Hall have been nominated for a Community Award for their enthusiasm and involvement in many aspects of community life, but in particular for their efforts to promote family related activities in Whitchurch. They are loyal supporters of the Millennium Meadow. Katya has produced an “Odd Object Trail Challenge” for youngsters, in which 20 out-of-place objects can be found hanging in the trees. Between them, they have organised races and kite flying events. They also encouraged families to decorate their windows for a Christmas competition in 2008. We thank them for promoting activities which enable all age groups to together enjoy the benefits of living in Whitchurch.
