Painting the backdrop: a tropical island
Tolii and Tosha’s idea for this year’s window decoration was “Santa On Holiday”. Update: We’re a Window Winner!
Hardly a day goes by without some mention of a roller coaster or a waterslide…and so, I guess it was a logical step to presume that Santa would want a holiday after delivering all those presents (including skate boards for our boys, they tell us).

Tolii sticks the gooy paper onto the curved balloon to make a waterslide.
Mummy painted a big back board with a tropical island theme, and made the waterslide.

The waterslide after gluing all the pieces together and painting it blue.
She did this by covering curvy party balloons with paper mache, hanging them up to dry and then cutting them in half; later, she fit them together and presto! a water slide ready for painting.
We did hit a bit of a snag: A couple balloons popped while they hung to dry and had to be redone (the cats looked innocent).

Meanwhile, I did my bit by creating a shelf to sit below our window. The boys were very helpful – they tightened all the screws that held the brackets and legs in place.
Finally, it was time to put it all together. The board was put in place on top of the shelf, the slide added, some lights strung and tiny Santa was put in the (cellophane) water coming done the slide! Yipee!
We have entered our window into the Whitchurch Family Christmas Window Decoration competition – fingers crossed!
