Tolii went off to school this morning! It wasn’t really his first time there, since he went for story time in the spring as a way to get familiar with the place. However, it was the start of his new “career” in education…
Tolii dressed up in his new school uniform - wow he’s a real boy now! How sharp he looked! A collection of photos are also in our gallery.
It was a drizzly day and there was a bit of fussing about which umbrella each of us should have (mainly it was up to Tosha to decide which one he gets and the rest was immaterial).
We walked through our town centre and met with Grangela just outside the Glass Foolery store at the Town Hall. Granny also commented on how smart he was dressed.
Then it was down London Street and to Town Mill Lane so that we could cross into the school grounds from the footpath gate; avoiding the rush of cars at the front.
We looked at the sheep resting in the meadow and then crossed the newly opened footpath bridge across The Test river. We saw some very big fish swimming just below the bridge - waiting for their food!
Then it was into the school grounds. We queued up outside the doors with the rainbow painted on them. At 8:50 we were let in! We saw many familar faces, like Alfie, Grace, Hanna and Rachel. Tolii felt right at ease!
We found his coat hook — it had two names on it: Anatolii and Tolii!
Finally, it was time to go into his year 1 classroom (6 kids, one of whom is Tolii, are to spend reception year there). His new teacher, Mrs. Sabine said Tolii should put his water bottle on the table and then choose to do anything in the room to play with. We took our leave and let Tolii get on with his first day…
Update: Tolii says he really enjoyed his first day. In the afternoon, mummy took him to granny’s and then off to Andover Gym Club. He really, really loved the gymnastic activities!
