Pirate Tosha celebrated his 3rd birthday on the Millennium Meadow - a bit ahead of schedule because best friend Joshua is heading out on holiday. Many more photos are in our gallery.
Everyone was dressed for the occasion…except for our boys who point-blank refused any costumes. And what costumes there were!
I was most scared by Amy: she had an eye-patch and a hook where her hand should have been! Her sister Katie was carrying a sword that I didn’t want to get near to!
Joshie looked like he was ready for a brawl below decks; and his sisters Hanna and Rachel looked like they may have already had one given their scars!
Evie was ready to hunt for a treasure with her sister Iris! Autumn looked like a heroic swashbuckler come to rescue the kids from shark infested waters!
The afternoon was chilly (we’re getting used to that for August) but we all were kept warm by doing tons of activities. Katya pulled out all the stops and had plenty of games for kids and parents, alike to participate in.
There were games like walking the plank (an ever extending set of play mats); a treasure hunt; a pirate quiz (congratulations to Coops who scored 9 out of 14); soak the shark with water balloons; chase-the-flying-shark-inflatables; and many, many more.
Of course, there were races…Tolii and Hanna even set up an obstacle course in the spirit of the Olympics. Gold medals all around!
Finally, it was time to set the ship and treasure chest ablaze (well, to light three candles and a few sparklers). We had to retreat into the marquee to get some shelter from the howling sea winds!
Then, it was time for more fun and games, of course! Grandpa opened up a present he brought from Canada: a huge bubble making machine! Everyone loved to run down the meadow chasing the gigantic bubbles! Some people were even able to jump high enough to pop them - but others just got tangled in the trees.
Finally, it was time to make some people walk the plank! On with the blindfolds and off they go!
