Cine to Digital Video

I just got back the digitized version of all of my dad’s Super 8mm cine film!

What does that mean?

It means we can watch films from my childhood in the 1970s without having to set up a projector!

I hired Excelsior Films Ltd. in London to do the work. They had reasonable prices for very good transfers (a couple reels had a few jittery moments, though ~ however those same films jerked also when played earlier in my super8 projector, so probably fault of the film not their service).

I paid just over £300 for all my various reels (19 x 50ft; 5 x 200ft; 1 x 250ft; 2 x 350ft).  I shipped them my films along with my own external hard-drive.  They converted them all over to .avi format so that I could edit them into shorter movies using Pinnacle Studio.

Here’s a spool - unedited, and just with some music added (Mistletoe & Wine from the Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree album).  It was filmed at Santa’s Village in Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada in the summer of 1975; just at the end is a short clip of me heading off to grade 2 at R.A.Hutchinson school in Whitby, Ontario.
