Tosha Eats A Carrot

July 29th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Its been a complete shock to us.  For years (well, two) Tosha has point-blank refused to eat fruits and veggies. There had been rumours that he had fruit up at the Oak Tree nursery, but we didn’t believe them.
He reminds me of my childhood: for years, I’d only eat hot-dogs.  Favourites: smothered in peanut butter; [...]

Power Picnic and Josh Sleepover

July 27th, 2008 · No Comments

I’ve lost track of how many Power Picnics we’ve hosted over at the Millennium Meadow.  I think today was the third.  Sorry, yesterday.  I really must start these blogs entries earlier, lest I fall further behind — forgive me…I was listening to music while sprawled on the sofa with my feet and legs twinging from [...]

Musical Mutterings

July 27th, 2008 · No Comments

Arcade Fire is a popular Canadian alternative music group; Again, I catch these things well after others have made them popular.  I haven’t listened to them much.  Probably all of 6 minutes so far (the same song twice).  I like them, well this song to start with; In particular, I really liked the interactive music [...]

Take off, eh? Farnborough Air Show 2008

July 20th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Today, it was my turn to introduce another generation of Reeves-Halls (and a Popova) to the wonders of a magical airshow.  Okay, probably more magical to me because of the nostalgia angle (hey, I am 40 now).
Photos, as usual, are in this website’s photos section — better: look at them in our new gallery!

Baa Baa - The Overton Sheep Fair 2008

July 20th, 2008 · No Comments

The only sheep we saw was a stuffed toy.  However, the rest of the party in Whitchurch’s neighbouring town, Overton, was beyond expectations.  They closed Winchester Rd to have a big party (more photos in our gallery).
Who can’t enjoy watching the local townswomen getting out to protest for the vote?  I really do have to [...]

Tosha: An Official Duckling!

July 19th, 2008 · No Comments

Tosha earned his “Ducklings Award Grade 1″ certificate today at his swim lessons.  You might remember that he put up a bit of a fuss at his first lesson…well, he calmed down and got on with the business of learning to swim!
Today, Tolii, too, earned his latest, and last, Ducklings certificate: Grade 5.  Now its [...]

The town’s Church Fête was held today in its usual spot: the lawn of Lord Denning’s estate, opposite the parish church.
You can have a look at the photos that I took - they’re all in our gallery (you can click on a thumbnail of a picture in the gallery to see a medium sized version; [...]

Happy 1st Birthday, Snape & Lyra!

July 12th, 2008 · No Comments

Our cats, Snape and Lyra turn 1 year old this month.  We’re not sure which day exactly that they were born; just the month.
So, in celebration, Lidl had a sale of cat toys!  We picked up a couple…
The boys were super excited to help assemble them and give them to Snape and Lyra as their [...]

Travellin’ But Not Like…

July 12th, 2008 · No Comments

I* was in Munich for a meeting on Thursday. I get there about half a dozen times a year. Fly in the night before, get to the hotel late, have a bite to eat**, sleep unsoundly (although its getting better, usually asleep by 1:30am [12:30am UK time]), wake up, have breakfast, walk to [...]

Whitchurch Carnival and Procession

July 5th, 2008 · No Comments

This town of ours keeps on wow-ing us. Today was the first carnival and procession in the town since 1996 - and you could tell the event has been sorrily missed. The king, queen, prince and princesses were all in attendance, too!
The creativity and fun shown was second to none. Heck, it [...]

Andrew’s 40th Birthday: The Video

July 5th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Last night I finished off the video from my 40th birthday party.

Both videos can be found in our website’s photo and video gallery.  Double-click on them to see them full-screen. Enjoy!

World of Wifecraft

July 1st, 2008 · No Comments

Well, its time for another funny video…hopefully, Katya will laugh…mind you, she might just not get it (as Andrew doesn’t play these kinds of online games).
The scene at the end is a homage to Leeroy Jenkins.
