This afternoon, we joined up with Kudrat and most of his kids to have a “power picnic” on the Millennium Meadow. As usual, there are lots of photos of the event!
The power was supplied by the turbo-charged (it seemed) power lawn mower owned by the Millennium Green Trust. The picnic was supplied by Katya.

Walking (Part of) Wayfarers’ Walk
May 31st, 2008 · No Comments
Both this morning and evening we went to White Hill, near Kingsclere to walk a part of the Wayfarers’ Walk. It was a spectacular place for taking photos!
Granny came along for the morning hike up the path heading west from the road. It was quite steep!
Afterwards, we headed over to the nearby National Trust [...]

Tosha Nappiless at Nights
May 29th, 2008 · No Comments
Tosha said to mummy tonight: “I’m an Oaks Boy now, I don’t need a nappy!”
So, Tosha went to bed for the first time without his pull-up.
Now daddy, fresh off the plane from his latest trip to Munich, has to figure out how to get two boys to the toilet for their midnight wee…

Oaks Boys
May 27th, 2008 · No Comments
Today was Tosha’s first day in the Oaks group at the Oak Tree Nursery. Like Tolii before him, he aged himself through Acorns and then Saplings.
Tosha was on best behaviour all day; as Tolii showed him about and guided him through the daily routine (play, play some more, eat, play some more, tidy-up, eat, [...]

Whitchurch Pub Race 2008
May 27th, 2008 · 1 Comment
This past Sunday saw the return of the Whitchurch Pub Race - something that hasn’t been seen around these parts for well over a decade (so the locals tell me). Thankfully, the rain cleared up by Sunday afternoon, just in time for the race.
Andrew is the official photographer of this year’s revived Whitchurch Festival [...]

Happy Birthday, Granny!
May 24th, 2008 · No Comments
Granny celebrated her 73rd birthday today. The boys loved the birthday present that mummy had bought for granny: a pig shaped flower basket. The boys named the pig “Boris” for reasons only known unto themselves. The cats spent a good amount of time investigating it!
Granny took us all out for a wonderfully delicious lunch [...]

Andrew was in Oslo for a 3-day Bluetooth SIG face-to-face meeting on the topic of the new low energy, formerly ULP, formerly WiBree, formerly…well, you get the picture. The conference was at the Texas Instruments lab on the Blindern campus of Oslo University.
He had a bit of time to wander around Oslo - not [...]

A Visit To Exbury Gardens
May 18th, 2008 · No Comments
Although the weather has cool down to about 16C, its still fine enough for a trip to a garden on the southern edge of the New Forest: Exbury Gardens and Steam Railway. It was about a 50 minute drive, heading south of Whitchurch. The admission was about £7.50 per adult. Kids under 3 [...]

A Taste of Summer
May 12th, 2008 · No Comments
The second week of May has been stellar! The temperatures rose to above 25C - and that was all we needed to haul down the pool from the loft, fill it with warm water (by attaching the garden hose to the kitchen tap), and take a plunge!
Daddy enjoyed himself so much at his party [...]

Andrew’s 40th Birthday Party
May 12th, 2008 · 3 Comments
Has Andrew really had 40 parties for birthdays already? Well, this latest one has got to have been the best!
His primary goal was to show-off to the four-year olds what a party for a person an order of magnitude older can be. No doldrums of mid-life crisis here: no, it was pure adrenaline time!
The [...]

Happy 40th Birthday, Andrew!
May 8th, 2008 · No Comments
Andrew turned 40 today. All in all, he’s pretty pleased with it. Having kids makes you look forward to your birthdays more…
Andrew built up a fair bit of extra time at work after having travelled to Munich for a business meeting yesterday - so he kicked off work at 3:30pm so he could [...]

Pig Racing

To round out this May Bank Holiday Weekend we visited a farm park near Stone Henge which we have never been to before, but had read good things about: Cholderton Rare Breeds Farm, also known as Cholderton Charlie’s Farm.
Their website sadly, as of May 2008, wasn’t too inspiring. But that made the pleasure of [...]

Visiting Longstock Water Garden
May 4th, 2008 · No Comments
We headed over to the Longstock Park Water Garden in Leckford after a busy morning (again) of football practice [Tosha kept busy by running around the huge field] {I don’t know why I like using different kinds of brackets for these asides}.
The water garden is owned and managed by Waitrose, of the grocery fame (in [...]

Walking Winchester’s Itchen
May 3rd, 2008 · No Comments
We had a wonderful afternoon walk after the kids’ swimming lessons (like last week, Tosha put up a fuss, let’s hope he’ll settle into the lessons by next week). We’ve written a separate Kids’ Outings page about the walk itself. There are a ton more photos, of course, in our gallery.
We drove the [...]
