This afternoon, we trotted off to The Vyne, a National Trust property north of Basingstoke. It was our first visit there – and wow! have we been missing out on this local gem. Absolutely stunning river and yard with a wonderful walk alongside the river to a marsh, complete with bird watch hut. We were lucky to stumble across a swan with her two cygnets (babies).
There’s a fantastic tree with a hollow section in its trunk – perfect for a photo of the kids!
Both Tolii and Tosha loved rolly-polly down the small hill near the house. Speaking of the house: its a wonderful 15th century mansion complete with ensuite (!) chapel and hidden tomb. Lots of posh wall coverings, paintings and furnishings. There’s a tea room – good for lunch – with inside and outside seating. They have the poshest vaulted ceiling toilets too!
